We’re deep into winter in Australia and I’ve done an audit of my autumn-winter 2025 fashion purchases. Apart for my ongoing obsession with different jeans shapes, the overwhelming driver of my seasonal update has been every shade of the colour chocolate.
I’ve long flirted with other shades of brown in my wardrobe but for some reason, I’ve never indulged* in the deliciousness of dark brown - or chocolate. This season, however, I can’t stop; won’t stop.
No part of my wardrobe is safe from this new-found colour obsession, from activewear, to shoes, to bags, tops, knits, dresses, blazers and jackets … give me ALL THE CHOCOLATE.
Let me unpack for you why I feel this colour has taken a piece of my styling heart:
It’s a close alternative to my favourite black.
Tonally it works back with so much of my existing neutral wardrobe, from black, to denim to grey, camel, white and ivory. This has given my existing winter wardrobe a freshen up.
It looks elevated, expensive even. I don’t know why. It just does.
Many of the pieces included in the above video are linked on my LTK Shop HERE.
All shoes are FRANKIE4 Footwear, including these newly released Saint loafers in chestnut.
Not linked in the video and deserving of a special mention is my chocolate blazer. It’s from a start-up Melbourne label, Detalj Studios. I was taken in my its split detailing in the back (you can see it in the video above) and was very happy to shop a new independent brand. It’s intentionally oversized - I’m in M with lots of room done up. Check it out HERE.
Another chocolate purchase from an independent Melbourne brand, Emerson Studios, arrived after I created the chocolate video, but it definitely deserves a spot here. It was my second purchase from this brand and it won’t be my last. It’s less than a year old but I love Emerson’s take on elevated basics. This dress is on final sale - I’m in L - it’s a fitted but super stretchy style and unbuttons all the way down so you could wear this as a long cardi/coat over jeans and a tee.
And if you’re thinking chocolate will be a one-season wonder, think again. Just like some of us like to wear black in summer, we’ll also be served up lots of chocolate offerings in spring-summer 2025. Early season collections are starting to drop - do check out Brisbane independent Isabella Longginou’s new chocolate linen collection - I’ve got my eye on the strapless dress.
So tell me, are you a fan of chocolate in your wardrobe mix? Leave a comment below to let me know what chocolate goodness you’ve found and added recently.
{*Dear Reader, OF COURSE I’ve over indulged in all things chocolate when it comes to eating it. For the record, I’m a serious dark chocolate lover. Straight up or combined with raspberries, sea salt or chilli flakes, dark chocolate is a part of my death-row final smorgasbord.}
For reference, my measurements are height: 166cm; hips: 103cm; waist: 88cm
