The style propaganda I'm no longer falling for
The monthly round-up for your browsing pleasure
Hello! I’m another year older since I last dropped into your inbox. So much has happened! After I published the below post on my birthday, Mamamia contacted me to write an article that expanded on my thoughts in that post. Let’s just say I was thrilled to shout those thoughts a little louder for those in the back.
Not everyone loves to play with fashion (and that’s ok) but for those of us who do like to play, we should be able to do so without judgement. Style is individual - let’s celebrate the diversity that comes from that individuality.

Styling You The Label officially closes TODAY
I announced a couple of weeks that I was winding down my fashion label after 6.5 years. The last day to shop is today - there’s not much left but you might just get lucky. I’m truly blown away by the support from old and new customers. The decision to close the label was not made lightly but was made for my long-term mental and physical health, both of which have taken a battering, particularly over the past two years.
I’m incredibly proud of all that we achieved and spent many a teary moment compiling and editing the below video which sums up the pure joy that came from a vision to help women of all shapes, sizes, ethnicities and abilities to feel seen and to have access to clothes that actually fit a mid-size woman’s body.
This is how I skincare (at night)
The older I get, the more I’m grateful I’ve consistently looked after my skin for most of my adult life. And, yes, Go-To is still very much my go-to.
That consistency is just one of the many lessons I’ve learned along the way. In recent years I’ve learned that cleansing in the shower is just not helpful for my easily irritated skin and I’ve learned to exercise patience between serum and moisturising steps.
I also don’t have time for trends or hype products. I want quality products that help me to keep my 58-year-old skin hydrated, calm, smoothed and plumped. This Go-To nighttime routine ticks those boxes.

‘Tis The Season … of comfy and cosy
I’m ticking all my comfy, cosy casual outfit winter boxes - with a solid side of nostalgia - in lululemon’s new Varsity collection. I have been living in these super comfy track pants - they’re like pulling on a hug at the end of the day. And hot tip: just add a trench coat. You can leave the house and no-one will know just how comfortable you are.

I think you’ll love this new (to me) label
It was love at first try with label State of Embrace. Designer Megs Ferrier has been in the fashion industry for 37 years. She’s seen it all, so when she started her own label almost eight years ago she was committed to inclusive styles and sizing (4-22) and sustainable manufacturing, producing in smaller batches and opening up pre-orders when sizes sell out. The fabrics not only feel good on the skin, most are sustainable. Head online and check them out.

The Model and Me: Commonry
Brands like Commonry get it. They understand that showcasing their designs on just one model makes it more difficult for us to imagine what it might look like on us. Not only do they share on two different sized models, the smallest model is a size 10, so a more realistic representation than a size 6.
I’m wearing size 12 in both of below:
Anna dress
Sophia dress
Both are available in sizes 8-24

Oh Nikki, what a week for you!
That dark blue dress from Commonry is so good on you - if I had an event coming up I think it would be purchased in a blink!
Great to read and be inspired ...you do open up a world away from the Shopping Plaza and I am appreciative of that. Thank you.
